Antigua Sailing Week is the major regatta of the Caribbean season and one of the top five regattas in the world. Antigua Sailing Week justifiably has the reputation of being the hardest sailing/socializing regatta of the season. Winds can be higher than for the other regattas and a lot of the racing takes place on the ocean side of the Island with fairly large seas. The Regatta Week consists of 2 days training and 6 days racing.
The first 3 days racing provide crews with the opportunity to circumnavigate Antigua in stages; overnight stops in Dickenson Bay with the amazing beach party and Jolly Harbour before finally racing back to Nelson’s Dockyard mostly in protected waters in the lee of the Island. A lay day then offers crews the chance to explore Antigua before the final days racing around the buoys on the South coast.
When racing with individuals on board, our objective is to provide each guest with a great time racing in the Caribbean. The two professional crew will train the crew to ensure that the racing is safe, fun and that each crew member is able to make a valuable contribution to the team effort. Although prior race or sailing experience is preferred, it is not essential. The 2 training days represent a great opportunity for each crew member to get familiar with the yacht and the racing manoeuvres.
