BVI SPRING REGATTA www.bvispringregatta.org
26th March - 1st April 2012
Northern Child was 2nd in Class in 2011!
The week long Spring Festival and Regatta are two great events rolled into one which include some beautiful cruising, competitive racing and serious fun on and off the water!! From its beginning in 1973, the BVIs Spring Regatta has grown in size and competition with continuing support from racing enthusiasts around the world.
The festival begins with three days of cruising and fun racing up the Sir Frances Drake Channel between Nanny Cay and Bitter End Yacht Club. Followed by the main three day regatta in Nanny Cay.
It will be Northern Child’s 5th participation in the BVIs Sailing Festival and BVIs Spring Regatta and the crews consider it to the one of the best Caribbean regattas of the winter season.
Northern Child came 1st in Class in 2008
The BVIs Spring Regatta is predominantly windward/leeward courses, which involves great teamwork. There are 2 races a day commencing at 1000 and finishing at approximately 1600. The courses are set in the Sir Francis Drake Channel on the South side of Tortola, in protective and relatively flat water. The focal point for the social activities of the event is the regatta village in Nanny Cay. It includes booths, bars and various food stalls. The party starts as soon as the racing stops and the entertainment includes live music every night and culminates in the Regatta Awards Ceremony on Sunday afternoon after racing.
