Exhilarating racing and
fantastic partying on board
the renowned Swan 51,
Northern Child
For
the summer season of 2008, Northern Child will be one of the rare racing yachts
at Cowes Week which will offer individual berths for the whole 8 days
regatta. The racing package will include one day training and 8 days racing.
Northern
Child, Swan 51, is superbly equipped for racing and is maintained to the very
highest standard. Her latest racing results include first overall on the
Transatlantic
ARC 2005
, 3rd in class at the
Antigua Sailing Week
2005 and in Antigua Sailing Week 2007, Northern Child achieved a second in
class and received the Prize for the highest placed crewed charter yacht.
When racing with individuals on
board, our objective is to provide each guest with a great time racing. The two
professional crew have a wealth of racing experience and will train the crew to
ensure that the racing is safe, fun and that each crew member is able to make a
valuable contribution to the team effort to race the boat as efficiently as
possible. Although prior race or sailing experience is preferred, it is not
essential. The training day represents a great opportunity for each crew member
to get familiar with the yacht, the racing manoeuvres and each other!
Cowes
week has become perhaps the most important date in the annual world
class yachting calendar. Over 1,000 yachts and 8,500 competitors take to the
Solent
for some very challenging first-class sailing. The event offers something for
everyone, with its exciting racing schedule and varied shore side activities all
helping to ensure a unique festival atmosphere and an amazing event to be part
of. The Racing runs from Saturday 2nd August with the last race on
Saturday, 9th August 2008 and is taking place on the
Solent
waters, a challenging stretch of water with strong tides and varied weather
conditions, which ensure competitive racing. The Sponsor Skandia is promising
something even a little bit more special for Cowes Week 2008 as the 2008 edition
will end the 14 years old association between Skandia and Cowes Week.
