This journey will start south mid-August and follow a similar route to the previous years. This passage is a
great opportunity to gain sea miles and experience a comfortable passage
cruising down south on board a beautifully maintained and luxurious Swan 51
yacht under professional guidance.

1. Proposed itinerary
We will leave
Hamble
Point
Marina
and set off for Cherbourg
as our first port of call, a good passage to settle into the boat and to get to
know the rest of the crew. Following a visit to
Cherbourg
and weather dependent we will set off for west and south Brittany as soon
as possible.
The next part of the trip is totally weather dependant
but we have the possibility to either go to visit St Peter Port, Camaret or
Benodet in
West Brittany
. As soon as the weather allows, we will get across the Bay of Biscay and within
3 to 5 days should reach La Coruna or Bayona or direct from Cherbourg if
possible, one of the nicest stops on this route. We will then follow the coast
of Portugal southwards with our next port of call in Cascais, a lovely town
about 30 minutes from the capital city of Lisbon with fabulous facilities for
the visiting yachtsman.
Our route takes us to one more stop in
Portugal,
Lagos
on the Algarve
Coast.
Lagos
is situated in the south west corner of
Portugal. The Algarve
is well known for its sun and sandy beaches – it is a beautiful old town
boasting a large new marina with excellent facilities.
After
Portugal, this voyage includes a visit to the Rock of Gibraltar with its impressive
stature, towering isolated above the surrounding countryside. Gibraltar is a
beacon which signals the position of the Straits of Gibraltar, the narrow neck
which separates Europe from Africa and provides the only link between the
Atlantic Ocean and the
Mediterranean Sea
.
The last part of this sailing trip is the 750 miles leg
from Gibraltar to St Tropez via either coast of
Spain
or the
Balearic Islands
. Discover or rediscover
Saint-Tropez
, this genuine and mythical village, which is set on the lovely blue water of
the
Bay
of
Saint-Tropez
and which is most popular for the line of yachts along the quay, and the facing
line of terrace cafés.
Should Northern Child be chartered for the Swan World's Regatta, the delivery
