St Maarten Heineken Regatta is the major regatta of the Caribbean season. The Race organisers have extensive experience on putting on a fantastic regatta with well thought through courses in beautiful sailing water and varied wind conditions.
The first Regatta race is around the Island of Saint Martin in a clockwise direction from Simpson Bay, passing Tintamarre in the North and finishing back off Philipsburg. The second days racing is a race westward to the French capital town of Saint Martin, Marigot with a night and party ashore there, and the last day is a race back round to the Dutch capital of Philipsburg.
Northern Child has competed in Caribbean regattas since 2001. She is superbly equipped for racing with a full inventory of North Race Sails and is maintained to the very highest standard. This year Northern Child is offering a seven day package including two training days before the racing.
With a group on board, our objective is to give a safe and enjoyable experience to all crew members whilst racing round the beautiful islands and stunning blue water.
The two professional crew will train the crew to ensure that the racing is safe, fun and enable each crew member to make a valuable contribution to the team effort. Although prior race or sailing experience is preferred, it is not essential. The 2 training days represent a great opportunity for each crew member to get familiar with the yacht and the racing maneuvers.
